If you're thinking "JavaScript and WebAssembly are overused and back in my day we didn't need to JIT arbitrary code just to read some text and click some links": Fair point! Ordinarily I would be in agreement with you, but the "whole site is a ROM" idea was just too cool for me to pass up. Maybe you'd rather download the ROM and run it locally in your favorite emulator?
The interactive site is a Game Boy ROM that runs in an in-browser emulator. Mouse coordinates are sent to the ROM via a direct write to memory, and redirects are handled by writing the target URL out via the Link Cable port. These features won't work when emulating the ROM locally (or running it on real hardware :)
